CEO and founder of Swainson Catering grew up on the beautiful island of Jamaica. “I was always learning to cook something new,” she recalls, as she boasts about the spices in her
hometown, “our local spices make the food so tasty and delicious.”
Beverley always dreamed of having her own business. After she migrated to the United States, she started selling goods and going to different events around the country including Caribbean festivals.
Being the kindhearted person she is, Beverley would always cook and bring food to work for her co-workers to share. She recalls her supervisor telling her on numerous occasions, “You need to buy a food truck!” She laughed it off, thinking that was a silly idea. During the pandemic, Beverley started cooking out of her kitchen, making dinner plates, and taking them to her job. The plates were a hit with her co-workers! The business
was going so well, she finally decided to go look at a food truck.
With the help of her daughter, Beverley designed the food truck and brought it to life. “We needed a name for the company, so I decided to name it after my son Swainson, who was an Executive Chef and an amazing cook. We started the business in 2020. We got the food truck in July 2021 and my son Swainson passed away in August of 2021, one week before our grand opening. Our vision for Swainson Catering is to become a household name.”
